Alessandro’s 1941 International KB-5
This month we are featuring a one-of-a-kind 1941 International KB-5 custom rat rod. The project began in 2021 when the owner spotted the truck on the side of the road while heading to a swap meet. After a quick follow-up, the truck was his the following weekend.
A lifelong hot rod builder, he set out to preserve the truck’s original patina while building a fully custom chassis underneath. The body now sits on a 1985 Ford E350 frame, powered by a 460 Big Block Ford with a C6 transmission and Dana 70 rear end. The truck runs a dually setup, custom billet wheels, upgraded fuel and cooling systems, LED lighting, and a hand-finished interior with modern gauges, steering, and controls. Nearly every component was fabricated, upgraded, or replaced with an emphasis on reliability and clean craftsmanship.
The build took two years and was completed entirely in a single-car garage. After a serious accident in 2024 slowed progress, finishing the truck became part of the owner’s recovery and made the project even more meaningful.
This 1941 International KB-5 is more than a custom build. It is a personal achievement, a true labor of love, and a perfect example of why protecting a one-of-a-kind vehicle matters.
